This blog is becoming less of an analysis of the latest hits (I really need to get on that) and more so me compiling a list of said new tunes and giving you lot a playlist, my apologies. Anyway, as per usual I forgot to post last month's installment of S&S, so here I am posting it now, a day before I post my one for March. I hope that you lot find a new song or two that you quite enjoy.
Cheers! x

It takes a lot for me to admit that I haven't really delved properly into the foundations of the modern musical landscape. While I listen to the classics, such as The Beatles and The Beach Boys, as well as the new wave and punk bands played by my parents (all of which heavily influenced the genres that I now gravitate towards), I never gave much thought to the past. If I am being honest, I was more concerned with finding the up-and-comers before my friends than exploring that which influenced them. Although this still rings true, I have recently garnered a new appreciation for those "golden oldies." Coinciding with this recent change of events, a friend of mine mentioned that if I ever want to make it as a journalist, this journey was necessary as I would need a larger arsenal of musicians to which to compare others. And I hate to admit it, but she was right. Case-in-point when I was listening to The Wombat's newest album, "Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life," I was struck by the similarity of the chord progression at the beginning of "I Don't Know Why I Like You but I Do" and Bill Withers' "Use Me." It was one of those moments when I was like, "oh shit." Fast forward a couple days and here I am making a playlist of some old jams to which I have been listening of late. Don't worry, this isn't going to be a permanent installment on my blog, but just something to change up the pace, which I will admit is moving abysmally slow (sorry). Anyway, enjoy this trip down memory lane and in the words of Ringo Star, "Peace and Love."
